The PathWise Process: Our Instructional Design Approach

PathWise Solutions worked with BC Assessment to deconstruct abstract critical thinking methodologies into punchy, highly applicable digital training assets.

Step 1: Strategic Analysis & Alignment

Our core discovery focused on isolating specific, high-relevance critical thinking concepts most applicable to online communication. Rather than treating critical thinking as an overwhelming theoretical topic, we opted for a highly focused micro-learning structure.

We designed each key concept to exist inside its own separate 15-minute chunk, ensuring that busy modern employees could easily fit the training into their daily workflows without cognitive overload.

Step 2: Creative Design & Development

Our development team built six narrated, animated videos to introduce each standalone module. These videos utilize real-world online and business interactions to illustrate complex philosophical logic, successfully bringing abstract principles directly into the learners’ corporate context.

To maintain accessibility alongside high engagement, full voice narration was paired with rigorous closed captioning across all multimedia assets, ensuring complete compatibility for hearing-impaired staff.

Step 3: Interactive Implementation

We rejected passive slide-turning in favor of realistic workplace application, positioning characters within common business contexts such as offices, online discussion forums, and internal social media channels.

Active Collaboration: We implemented drag-and-drop mechanics, interactive labeled graphics, and retention check-ins where learners actively evaluate character communications to identify logical problems. To extend the value of the course beyond the LMS, we built downloadable PDF checklists as immediate take-away job aids for everyday use.
