The PathWise Process: Our Instructional Design Approach

PathWise Solutions collaborated with TransLink’s Organizational Development department to architect an onboarding asset explicitly tailored for self-motivated adult learners.

Step 1: Strategic Analysis & Alignment

Our discovery process targeted a key operational threshold: optimizing a powerful, pre-existing voluntary mentoring framework. While the program was highly effective, participants needed a way to align their expectations and review core policies prior to formal placement.

We structured a two-pronged strategy that combined direct informational delivery with active, scenario-based learning paths. This methodology respects the existing life experiences of adult learners, inviting them to step directly into realistic relationship dynamics.

Step 2: Creative Design & Development

Our engineering team leveraged Articulate Storyline 360 to build a visually engaging, responsive interface that functions with equal fluidness on desktops, tablets, and smartphones. This cross-device equity ensures transit operators and office teams can access training seamlessly at any time.

We embedded a deep library of custom interactive features, including moveable slide bars, responsive drag-and-drop exercises, and clickable resource drawers loaded with accessible tip sheets, checklist links, and framework definitions.

Step 3: Interactive Implementation

We bypassed generic corporate presentations, choosing instead to ground the core policy material within authentic, character-driven narrative storytelling.

Active Collaboration: The course centers around an unfolding series of milestones tracking the relationship between a fictional mentor and mentee. Backed by professional voice narration, these modules include active text-entry areas where users type out private reflections, mapping their personal insights directly into the digital environment to solidify long-term retention.
